I had a mixed experience at this hotel. While the views of the Geirangerfjord were simply breathtaking, the overall condition of the hotel felt outdated and in need of renovation. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the dining area often became chaotic during mealtimes because of the many tour groups. The spa facilities were enjoyable, which added some charm to the stay, but the rooms definitely had their issues.

Location

The buffet had decent variety, but the small layout caused long queues during meal times, especially with large tour groups.

The spa area was a nice retreat, although the gym and some other facilities felt quite old and musty.

I stayed at this hotel during my fjord tour and was really impressed with the stunning views and the exceptional spa. The breakfast was particularly noteworthy, offering a great selection. However, the lack of air conditioning during a heatwave was a bit uncomfortable. Overall, it was a memorable experience, despite a couple of downsides.

The hotel offers stunning views of the fjord, making it a memorable stay. The staff were helpful, although our service experience varied. Dining was fantastic with a variety of options, but there's potential for improvement in the speed of service. It's definitely a place to explore and enjoy nature, but some aspects could benefit from attention to detail.

7.0/10
The hotel offers breathtaking views of the fjord and a unique opportunity to learn about local culture at the nearby Norsk Fjord Senter. While the breakfast buffets were excellent and the spa facilities enjoyable, I faced some issues with the room comfort due to inadequate air circulation. Additionally, the service experience could have been more engaging, especially when it came to dietary needs.
Rooms
6.0
The rooms were clean but quite warm, lacking air conditioning. I was unfortunate to have a view overshadowed by the bins at the back, which detracted from the overall experience.
Service
5.0
The staff was generally courteous, but there was a noticeable lack of communication between the reception and the kitchen, particularly regarding dietary requests. This made the experience frustrating.
Location
9.0
The hotel is ideally located right next to a stunning waterfall and within walking distance to the scenic town, making it convenient for exploring the area.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast and dinner buffets were good, but options for vegans were limited and not well-prepared despite prior notice to the kitchen.
Facilities
8.0
The spa facilities were great, providing an excellent chance to relax, although the overall amenities were impacted by the limited dining options.

The hotel, rich in history and charm, offers breathtaking views of the Geirangerfjord which make for a memorable stay. The spacious rooms have some wow-factor in their decor and views, while the buffet dining is exceptional with a wide variety of quality dishes. On the downside, the service could be a bit more attentive at times, and the presence of large tour groups occasionally impacts the atmosphere in the lounges. Overall, it's a fantastic choice for those looking to relax while soaking in the stunning natural beauty.
